The state of Yucatán is once again in the spotlight of the travel world as it is represented in the 2023 Food & Travel Readers Awards, which honor the best in hospitality and tourism in Mexico.
First up, Mérida competes in the “Best Destination in Mexico” category, Luis Ronzón competes in the Best New Chef category, Kinich competes in the “Best General Restaurant in Mexico” category and Chablé competes in the “Best Sustainable Hotel” category.
While Yucatan is participating in four categories, there are 28 categories in total with approximately 150 nominees; Gastronomy and Tourism voting will be open until February 9th, so there is still time to vote for Yucatan representatives, The awards will be held on February 22 next year.
This is the eighth edition of the awards, and 62 hospitality experts who are renowned in their field are responsible for the nominations together with the Food & Travel editorial board, so it goes without saying that only the best of the best make the cut.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Yucatán has participated in such awards. A few days ago, Micaela Mar y Leña’s restaurant on popular 47th Street won the 2024 Restaurant of the Year award from the Mexican Culinary Industry and became part of the 250 Restaurant Guide.
At the same event, the Ixi’im restaurant in Isamar, headed by Luis Ronzón, was named one of the 250 Mexican gastronomic restaurants for the sixth consecutive year.
