South Africa Tourism has entered into a strategic partnership with Tourism Educators for Southern Africa (TESA), through the South African National Convention Bureau (SANCB), to host the much-anticipated Future Leaders Forum during the upcoming Africa Convention trade show.
The Future Leaders Forum is the focus of the Business Opportunities Networking Day (BONDay) on February 26, aiming to attract and inspire young enthusiasts who aspire to stand out in the dynamic field of business activities. With youth empowerment taking center stage in the tourism and business events industry, this carefully designed program aims to guide students towards a successful career.
SANCB Managing Director MICE Sales Officer Bjorn Hufkie emphasized the importance of this initiative, saying: “At South Africa Tourism we place great emphasis on supporting future leaders and this globally recognized platform allows us to do just that. , while ensuring we develop talent that will benefit our business events industry in the future. This is really about ensuring the sustainability of the industry through investment in young people.”
Hefkey continued: “Through this Future Leaders Forum program, students gain international recognition and become proud representatives of their country. Forum attendees will be immersed in a transformative two-day experience, cultivating valuable industry connections, accessing top educational content, gaining insights from seasoned professionals, and learning collaboratively with their peers.
One of the innovative features of the Future Leaders Forum is the participation of three outstanding students nominated by universities across the country. Selection criteria for qualified students studying the NQF Level 7 and 8 Tourism and Hospitality qualifications include a strong interest in the business events industry, excellent academic results and an age limit of 35 years. The nominated finalists are James Kgabo from Tshwane North College, Hlolohelo Zwane from Tshwane North College and Anaïs Saayman from North West University.
These finalists will present their proposals on February 26, which could mark the beginning of an exciting adventure into the global meetings and events world. The winners of the 2024 Future Leaders Forum will advance to the prestigious International University Challenge, a global competition held at the Global Future Leaders Forum.
Future Leaders Forum – Meetings Africa 2024 The winner of the International University Challenge will receive sponsorship prizes including air tickets, accommodation and travel stipends to attend the Global Future Leaders Forum at IMEX Frankfurt in May 2024. Meeting Professional International (MPI) SANCB, the world’s largest trade association for meeting and event professionals, will provide accommodation costs, while SANCB will provide flights and stipends.
The Africa Convention trade show dedicated to meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) will be held from 26 to 28 February 2024 at the prestigious Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg.
