The Masters is known as one of the sport’s exclusive events, but golf fans with deep pockets can reportedly enjoy a new premium hospitality experience during the year’s first major next month.
According to Josh Carpenter of Sports Business Journal, weekly passes to the new Map & Flag hotel site, located across Washington Road and within walking distance of Augusta National Park, are priced at $ $17,000.
Augusta National president Fred Ridley announced the experience before last year’s game, offering an unknown number of fans the chance to be prepared to pay cash to enter the hospitality venue along with a game badge.
Once inside, patrons will be able to enjoy premium food and beverages, while on-field action will be broadcast on 80 televisions. At the same time, the venue is open from 6.30am to one hour after the game ends every day.
Its food hall will feature three dining venues, including The Grille, offering breakfast and lunch/dinner options that promise “crafted sandwiches.” There’s also The Carvery (which, as the name suggests, serves meat) and The Marketplace (which offers coffee, donuts, pastries, salads, deli and cheese options).
The 26,000-square-foot venue will also reportedly feature an outdoor garden and a merchandise store, while one of its many bars will be a sports bar.
It’s unclear whether the new hotel experience will rival Augusta National’s venerable Berckmans Place, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2023. This may also continue for a while. That’s because, like other venues, SportsBusiness Journal reports that no cellphones will be allowed inside the venue, and no photography will be allowed.
The 2024 Masters will be held April 11-14, with LIV Golf’s Jon Rahm defending his title.
