The name “NILA” comes from the Malayalam word for blue, symbolizing the azure waters of India’s picturesque coastline. The restaurant’s interior design draws inspiration from the vibrant tones of Portuguese architecture in Goa, a state on India’s southwest coast, complemented by traditional Indian textures and visuals to create an atmosphere that transports guests to the maritime past. Trade and culture were exchanged throughout the ages.
NILA Chef Bharath’s menu showcases a range of dishes influenced by centuries of culinary tradition, including fresh seafood recipes influenced by the Portuguese cuisine of Goa and the Malabar Coast and the European culinary traditions of India’s east coast. Each dish is carefully crafted to highlight the diverse flavors and spices of Indian coastal cuisine to tantalize the taste buds of even the pickiest gourmets.
