Development permits have been approved for a multi-structure affordable housing campus at 7 Topgolf Drive in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The proposal would bring nearly 800 units next to the Topgolf entertainment venue. Pinetree Investments is the property owner.
Construction will create eight buildings, including 780 apartments and 16,200 square feet of commercial space, permits show. The seven-story building sits on 3.28 acres with an average density of nearly 240 units per acre.
JPark Architects is responsible for the design. The Los Angeles-based firm has designed several modest-looking apartment buildings in Southern California. Illustrations first published by the Bay Area News Group provide a first look at the design, which features a boxy white building with windows and private balconies in the middle. At least one building will feature an extended podium podium with retail at ground level and outdoor seating above.
Pine Tree Investment & Management purchased the site in May 2022 from a developer seeking plans to build a 200-room hotel. Pine Tree will lead the program in partnership with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation. According to the application, Cloud Apartments, a modular construction startup founded in 2021, will participate.
