The U.S. Travel Association will celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day on April 11 with the theme “Meetings Matter.”
Global Meetings Industry Day is dedicated to championing the undeniable professional, personal and financial benefits of business meetings, trade shows, conferences and conferences.
Last year, U.S. meeting and event-related travel spending totaled $119 billion, directly supporting nearly 600,000 jobs. Hosting events, conferences, and trade shows can stimulate regional economies by booking conference facilities, local hotels, and more.
“In-person meetings and events are critical to the success of businesses and individuals across industries,” said Jeff Freeman, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association. “Global Meetings Industry Day is an opportunity to highlight this critical How departments drive local economies, business profits, personal growth and professional relationships that advance a common cause.”
More and more companies are returning to face-to-face meetings to increase connection and collaboration, with American Express Global Business Travel research showing that 81% of respondents agree that face-to-face interactions drive higher levels of business innovation.
In celebration of Global Meetings Industry Day, approximately 50 companies and organizations are hosting events and activities, including Hilton’s “Meetings Mean Everything” competition, Meeting Professionals International (MPI)’s 12-hour broadcast, the NC Meetings Mean Business Alliance’s Educational courses, etc.
