The Clark County School District has hired a top human resources leader and made other district leadership changes.
Starting Monday, RoAnn Triana, currently director of the region, will serve as director of human resources.
“One of our most pressing needs is ensuring our students have qualified teachers in the classroom,” Interim Superintendent Brenda Larson-Mitchell said in a press release announcing the changes Tuesday. “RoAnn Triana was Having served as a principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels, understands the importance of efficient systems and processes in recruiting for all district positions.”
She replaces Carol Tolx, who left the company in October. According to a list of employee departures included in school board meeting materials, Tokes said she left for “personal/family reasons.”
Cedric Cole serves as interim chief human resources officer.
The U.S. and Nevada education departments are investigating the district’s use of federal COVID-19 relief funds for teacher recruiting trips to beach destinations.
In a news release Tuesday, the district also announced other staffing changes.
Larsen-Mitchell said reorganizing District 1 leadership and key supervisory roles will “streamline critical support for school leaders.”
Lindsay Tomlinson will serve as District 1 superintendent. She is currently the assistant principal of schools in the district, which includes North Valley.
Scott Walker, associate principal of schools who currently works for the School Choice and Innovation Network, will become associate principal of District 1 schools.
Comprehensive schools within the network will transition to the jurisdiction of their geographic areas, the release said.
Mike Barton, the district’s chief college, career, equity and school choice officer, will oversee “innovative efforts focused on student career paths and choice options,” the district said.
