The letter was written by a city employee we call “Whistleblower 3,” who is known to city officials but whom we have chosen not to name. The city has an opportunity to rebut the letter, which will be the last in the series. While working in West Hollywood, I witnessed corruption, corporate greed, classism, vindictiveness and a disregard for human life in a government that failed to protect its employees.
I have been an employee of the City of West Hollywood since 2008 and recently identified myself as a whistleblower to my employer.

- Nepotism and favoritism are encouraged and celebrated, just ask David Wilson, who would give himself a pat on the back for offering promotions to both experts and the unskilled.
- Unethical and gossipy behavior can lead to multiple promotions, just ask Janet Jimenez, who bypassed all hiring steps and now runs HR.
- Charm counts more than experience, and having the right connections can guarantee a promotion, just ask Danny Rivas, who was appointed to the H Public Safety Director position.
From a staff perspective, City Manager Wilson, Director of Public Safety Rivas and Director of Administrative Services Jimenez were seen happily drinking together at a popular establishment shortly after this After the article was published, it gave the impression that they believed they were invincible.

Who is the whistleblower?
Last week, Whistleblower 3 sent a letter to the City Manager and City Council revealing their identity and seeking protection under the city’s whistleblower policy. Their names are being kept secret despite having their identities made public and seeking protection.
The first time a city staff member expressed displeasure to me, we didn’t publish the story. Instead, I contacted City Manager David Wilson and City Attorney Lauren Lange to inform them of the issue and asked them to speak with the councilmember who overstepped their authority. We call this person Whistleblower 1.
The second case involved a former city employee seeking help for an Asian man who claimed he was being bullied by a lifeguard. Corri Plank, a senior city staffer, lets her two children work at the pool. This incident was reported in our report; we call it Whistleblower 2.
Whistleblower 3 is an employee who has worked at City Hall since 2008. The employee had been battling thyroid cancer during 2022 and 2023. Whistleblower 3 is at the heart of the recent allegations of PUMP and TOM TOM operating without a business license and other allegations of nepotism and favoritism.
