Sharjah: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) and the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) discussed ways to develop cooperation and advance joint efforts to achieve Emiratization goals and policies within the private sector.
The two sides also discussed ways to enhance the role of the private sector in developing local human resources, in line with the directives of wise leaders to achieve sustainable development.
The discussion took place during the visit of His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Awal, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, to the SCCI Headquarters, where he met SCCI President His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais and Mohamed HE Ahmed Amin Al-Arwadi, SCCI Director General, along with other senior officials.
The meeting clarified the role of SCCI in training and nurturing national cadres, promoting social responsibility and establishing partnerships with academic institutions in the field of human resource development.
The gathering also touched on the Chamber’s commitment to Emiratization and strong support to entrepreneurs as part of initiatives launched by the Chamber’s affiliated Small and Medium Enterprises Center (Tijarah 101). Tijarah 101 is committed to empowering young people to transform their ideas into thriving and sustainable businesses, while providing the necessary support.
Additionally, the conference featured a rich presentation detailing SCCI’s structure, its affiliated entities and services tailored to its members, as well as its international exhibitions, ongoing projects and upcoming launches aimed at strengthening the emirate’s business ecosystem measures.
The Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation commended SCCI for its key role in supporting local industries and organizations with top-notch exhibitions showcasing the uniqueness and diversity of the UAE national economy.
The Minister also commended SCCI for its contribution to enhancing the vitality of business, investment and tourism in the emirate, as well as its outstanding initiatives aimed at promoting the participation of Emirati youth in different economic and business sectors.
His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais stressed that the Chamber’s commitment to supporting Emiratization initiatives and promoting the recruitment of local talent in the private sector has led to a significant increase in Emiratis’ participation in the private sector, thereby supporting national development efforts.
He stressed that the Chamber actively encourages young people to explore entrepreneurial opportunities and provides support to aspiring entrepreneurs to further promote the goals of Emiratization and economic diversification.
The meeting delved into the achievements of the Nafis programme, highlighting the important role it plays in supporting UAE private sector talent and business owners to participate in the programme, in partnership with the Sharjah Ministry of Human Resources.
It also discussed the role of the unemployment insurance scheme, also known as the Involuntary Unemployment Scheme (ILOE), and the optional end-of-service bonus system, the Savings System, in promoting the competitiveness of the UAE labor market.
The discussion also touched on the “Teachers and Pride” program inspired by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The program aims to support and appreciate Emirati teachers and develop their professional, academic and ethical status and capabilities, becoming a pioneering initiative to support the education sector and promote civic engagement.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed the second edition of the UAE Labor Market Awards, which was recently launched under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court .
Organized by MoHRE, the awards aim to increase the competitiveness of the UAE labor market, increase productivity and efficiency, recognize outstanding practices in the workplace environment, uphold and inspire labor rights, and enhance the well-being and quality of life of the workforce within private sector enterprises. Notably, the total value of the award has increased to AED 37 million.
