(Konica Minolta) is proud to announce that it has been named a finalist for two of the 2024 Ragan Employee Communication Awards category finals. The awards recognize the most outstanding internal communications campaigns and initiatives of the past year, focusing on companies and individuals who excel in fostering effective communication, engagement and collaboration within their organizations. Konica Minolta was recognized in both the Employee Recognition or Rewards Program and Internal Events Strategy categories.
Finalist: Employee Recognition or Rewards Program
Konica Minolta’s entry into the employee recognition or reward program category outlines the lofty goals of its new program, which include enhancing manager appreciation and employee collaboration, providing a common design and delivery platform, and reinforcing Konica Minolta’s company values. It also seeks to address employee feedback requests for increased rewards and team member recognition.
The team at Konica Minolta wanted to provide a solution that included employee feedback and asked for their participation as the key to sustainable change. The team leverages the knowledge of field staff and lessons learned from existing projects, hosts focus groups and surveys leaders to review current projects and systems in detail. Data shows that a culture of expressing appreciation through employee recognition among peers and by leaders is critical to sustained engagement, increasing expected value and performance, and becoming an employer of choice.
After extensive review, one off-the-shelf program that stood out was Bonusly, which provides managers with employee and peer recognition recognition. The platform offers points that can then be redeemed for rewards including clothing, services, gift cards, travel, groceries, entertainment and donations to charitable organizations.

Finalist: Internal Campaign Strategy
Konica Minolta has a special opportunity to enter the Internal Campaign Strategy Award category, as 2023 marks its 150th anniversary. The entire anniversary campaign is a global campaign, led by marketing teams in each region, who also work with cross-functional teams in their respective locations to integrate messaging and imagery into day-to-day activities. The campaign recognizes Konica Minolta’s rich history of innovation and seeks to evoke pride in the company’s heritage among employees and customers. Combining the theme of its historical achievements, Konica Minolta hosted an exciting FY23 (fiscal year 2023) kick-off meeting, transforming its traditional employee town hall into a powerful virtual event.
Goals of the campaign include rekindling employee enthusiasm for a shared vision, engaging and motivating the company’s employee community, and launching an internal brand activation during the anniversary year. These goals are very ambitious, as the company must engage employees from all offices in the U.S. and Canada and optimize their engagement.
To do this, the marketing team created multiple touchpoints and activations to make everyone feel included, no matter where they are. The 90-minute all-hands session, held at the company’s U.S. headquarters in New Jersey and broadcast live from all North American offices, included a photo-filled, video-filled presentation and a live CEO awards ceremony. To further the inclusion strategy, the team encouraged employees to watch in small groups and created a 150th anniversary microsite that includes the film and virtual museum. In a post-event survey, 83% of employees surveyed rated the FY 2023 Kickoff and Events as “excellent” or “good,” and when asked how informative the all-hands meeting was, 91% said it was “excellent” or “good.” good”.
