The New York University School of Professional Studies is seeking a Clinical (Assistant/Associate) Professor of Hospitality Social Enterprise and Engagement for the Jonathan M. Tisch Center for Hospitality Management, effective Fall 2024. (The level of this position will be determined based on the candidate’s experience) and qualifications. )
The Tisch Center is actively seeking an outstanding professional to serve as a professor in the School of Hospitality Administration in the area of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I). The ideal candidate will have over twenty years of experience in hotel operations and academic leadership, with a proven track record of DE&I in the hospitality industry. The candidate will have a proven record of achievement in managing hotel\operations and working with a diverse team of professionals. Someone with experience managing and leading quality hotel brands is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have experience working with nonprofits, high schools, and HBCUs. Candidates will also bring a network of senior hospitality industry executives, including DE&I and CHRO leaders at large hotel groups.
In the academic field, candidates should have experience in full-time faculty and service/administrative positions in DE&I with experience teaching diverse student populations and navigating complex legislative environments. They should have a master’s degree and have completed a doctoral degree program. At least work in a relevant field, or hold ABD status.
Reporting to the Tisch Center Associate Dean, the successful candidate will work closely with the Academic Director to implement the vision for expanded apprenticeship programs and enhance the Tisch Center’s leadership in hospitality DE&I locally, nationally, and internationally. In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following, including but not limited to:
- Taught courses at graduate, undergraduate, and corporate and executive education programs;
- Provide advice to students;
- Collaborate with other faculty to achieve the strategic goals of the Tisch Center and NYU School of Public Health;
- Build and develop relationships with industry professionals and organizations; and collaborate with the broader NYUSPS academic community as appropriate.
The full-time position is for nine months and comes with a two-year renewable teaching contract.
The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000-$150,000 per the New York City Salary Transparency Act. The ideal candidate will (i) possess an advanced degree (Master’s degree), preferably in a DE&I related field; (ii) possess a significant industry and academic track record; (iii) possess at least ten years of academic experience and effectiveness in higher education , (iv) Have experience working or teaching with a diverse student population (v) Have at least 8 years of experience in hotel operations. Candidates should provide evidence of curriculum development initiative, demonstrate the ability or potential ability to engage in meaningful service or administrative work, and provide evidence of academic job prospects.
