From mentoring and education programs, to ensuring voices are heard, here’s what interviewees from DCX, ADM, Remote, BT Group, AWWA, Equinix South Asia, Adnovum Singapore and Orchard Turn Developments are doing.
Inclusion – This term has evolved a lot to retain the meaning it has today, whether it relates to gender, ability or otherwise.
To mark International Women’s Day on March 9, HRO is seeking to hear from leaders and individuals across the region to find out how they inspire inclusion in the workplace.
In this fourth edition of this feature, let’s take a look at how our respondents TDCX, ADM, Long Distance, BT Group, AWWA, Equinix South Asia, Adnovum Singapore, and Orchard Development Project is doing so.
Angie Tay, Executive Vice President and Group Chief Operating Officer, TDCX
As a global customer experience solutions provider, we recognize the importance of diversity and inclusion, especially given our strengths in managing cross-cultural teams and serving international clients. We believe that having a diverse workforce not only creates a positive work environment but also leads to better business results because we can better understand and meet the unique needs, cultural backgrounds and preferences of the customers we serve.
At TDCX, our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs include training, organizational policies, and fostering an inclusive culture. For example, we have implemented a flexible work arrangement policy that takes into account the needs of people with disabilities and working mothers when it comes to flexible work arrangements.
We actively engage in community outreach, both internally and in partnership with external organizations, to educate employees on the importance of DEI. We also organize programs such as coaching and leadership development, and implement equitable pay practices to support the advancement of female leaders. These efforts have resulted in women occupying nearly half of leadership positions at TDCX.
Finally, we continually measure our DEI initiatives to ensure they are effective in delivering meaningful change.
Li Jingting, Asia Pacific Talent Acquisition Manager, ADM
I believe that a diverse workforce brings different perspectives and creativity, which in turn enhances innovation, problem-solving, and decision-making. Therefore, diversification is a strategic advantage for all companies. As a member of ADM’s APAC DEI&B Board of Directors, drawing from my background in talent acquisition, my goal is to increase awareness of subconscious bias among internal stakeholders and ensure fair and equitable recruitment through interview skills training.
We also incorporate diverse interview panels into our recruitment process and actively attract female talent from the Asia Pacific region to promote gender equality in our recruitment pipeline.

From the beginning, Remote has built inclusivity into its DNA, with the fundamental goal of providing equal employment opportunities and wealth accumulation around the world. We started working fully remotely and asynchronously and continue to this day, with our teams now in over 80 countries. Our work environment is carefully designed to ensure everyone feels included, no matter where they are in the world.
Flexibility and transparency are key to achieving this goal. We empower people to work at their best hours, and we trust our teams to achieve the best results. It’s all about life-work balance – acknowledging the primacy of life fosters an inclusive culture where people with different life experiences, abilities and needs can thrive equally.
Daphne Chee, BT Group Cyber Security Alliance, Sales Strategist and Head of Public Sector SEA Security
At BT, our commitment and work on inclusion and diversity (I&D) extends beyond female, minority ethnic and disabled colleagues. We want to help the next generation shape a brighter future.
At a global level, this is reflected in our work with UNICEF to ensure children have access to and use of technology. This collaboration has benefited 2 million people in 23 countries. Locally, we are deeply involved in annual learning trips to children’s wishing wells. It has been an enriching experience for me personally to be involved in educating children about the online safety aspects of the BT Group. It enables young people to increase their confidence and understanding of digital tools and technologies.
As a mother of two, efforts like this are very close to my heart. We are excited to contribute to the ongoing education of the younger generation, empowering them to continuously learn and supporting them to make the most of technology.
Our role as industry leaders is critical to ensuring that the future of technology is not only inclusive but diverse, meeting the needs and aspirations of every child.
Carolyn Zhuang, AWWA Adult Disability Home Nursing Specialist
Driven by curiosity and a desire to serve in the social services field, I joined AWWA seventeen years ago, before inclusion was a buzzword! I support the AWWA Special Student Care Center, which provides after-school care for teenagers with additional needs, and now I care for adults with disabilities at the same organization’s Home Without Walls. My experience at AWWA reinforced my belief that inclusion is possible with an open mind and empathy.

At Equinix, we believe people are a force for good. For years, Equinix has been promoting and empowering women through WomenConnect.
