The first Regenerative Hospitality Summit, co-hosted by Oxford Cultural Group and Ulster University, will be held in Transylvania, Romania on 5 Mayth to 8th May 2024.
The summit is an international gathering of leading chefs, food and beverage producers, tourism managers and academics, focusing on how to achieve “regenerative impact” to support cross-sector collaboration, build resilience and improve business performance.
A number of expert contributors, including Heckfield Place chef Skye Gyngell, will consider whether the hospitality industry needs to harmonize its activities with the communities, places and natural environment to which they belong.
The campaign is premised on the premise that the hotel and tourism industry’s stated focus on sustainability, while laudable, is not enough to address the monumental climate, social and cultural challenges we all face.
Organizers urge hospitality and tourism professionals to attend, share their unique experiences and perspectives, build alliances with representatives from other parts of the world, and consider adopting regenerative practices within their own organizations and locations.
Donald Sloan of Oxford Culture Group commented: “The hospitality sector is uniquely placed to lead systemic change that ensures the natural environment, people and places can thrive, while also being good for business. It is in our food The centrality of the system, its impact on consumer behavior, its public influence through media engagement and its role in defining the character of urban and rural areas give it enormous influence.”
Delegates will enjoy social events reflecting the summit theme, including a dinner prepared by TV chef and author Romy Gill MBE and Ulster University Hospitality and Culinary Arts Management students.
