Work summary:
Enterprise Technology Architects (ETAs) perform technical analysis and professional work in the design, development, maintenance, and improvement of an organization’s technology infrastructure. This role provides a variety of application design, development, integration and maintenance services that help improve the functionality and effectiveness of the University’s technology infrastructure. In addition, he/she evaluates and recommends technology solutions to achieve business goals and provides support and guidance to team members. Enterprise technology architects oversee all aspects of new technology design concepts and schematics. ETA will use independent judgment in providing professional high-speed Internet and WIFI infrastructure. The Enterprise Technology Architect will oversee the design, configuration and implementation of new equipment and be responsible for quality assurance and measuring the performance of the new IP connectivity infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate the evaluation and selection of hardware products, standards and services, and the design of standard and customized hardware/software configurations.
Leads the implementation of assessment, design and analysis activities and deliverables based on enterprise standards and business priorities. Reviews new and existing system infrastructure, integration and design to identify and effectively communicate improvement opportunities.
Document all aspects of system implementation from concept to implementation and establish and maintain best practice documentation related to system integration.
Maintain documentation of system configurations and changes, operating procedures, and other processes.Complete performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization
Participate in the planning and implementation of various infrastructure optimization projects.
Manage university wireless network infrastructure. Provides RF engineering and optimization, coverage and mapping, and manages wireless IPS and other security protocols. Research and design wireless products, services, protocols and standards for future converged data and video applications.
Assist in maintaining the University IP infrastructure and incorporating the latest advances in network engineering, including adding new protocols/technologies and developing and deploying new architectures to enhance the robustness, resiliency and flexibility of the network.
Build and maintain network documentation to facilitate training and troubleshooting. Conduct research on future network products, services, protocols and standards for integrated data and video applications.Evaluate and recommend specific network technology infrastructure products to provide cost-effective solutions

educate:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Engineering with an emphasis in technology infrastructure design.
Master’s degree preferred but not required.
Panduit Cabling Certification preferred but not required.
ITIL V.4 certification is preferred but not required.
experience:
Completely proficient in operating in a mixed network environment. Have the ability to perform high-level system management and integration in a distributed, networked, multi-vendor computing environment, and have extensive knowledge of professional operating systems, computer hardware and network technologies.
Ability to accept overall direction, classify ambiguous situations, and take action to resolve problems where neither the underlying problem nor the solution is obvious. Ability to handle multiple tasks with varying priorities and changing needs; collaborates with team members.
Ability to write concise, logical, and easy-to-understand systematic documents; record medium to high-level technical details in an organized and reader-friendly manner. Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools Deep understanding of complex system architecture and infrastructure, including experience with workflow, distribution, and analysis.
Experience in infrastructure/network engineering, responsible for hardware and software design planning and deployment of WIFI and other dedicated IP infrastructure.
Demonstrate knowledge of applicable higher education IT computing technologies, including enterprise applications.
Physical requirements:
Ability to moderately lift up to 20 pounds as required to move objects; proficiency in writing and operating a computer keyboard and mouse; ability to listen and speak clearly; and ability to move physically such as stooping, kneeling, stooping, and reaching.
working environment:
Work is primarily performed in a college campus setting and requires a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend work. Expect travel for administrative work. Employees are subject to internal environmental conditions: protected from weather conditions but not necessarily protected from temperature changes.
