More than 30 new jobs are to be created in Coventry after Talbots Law announced a massive recruitment drive.
The ambitious employee-owned law firm, which acquired Sarginsons Law in May last year, hopes to grow the firm through a series of recruitments including paralegals, solicitors, administrators and a number of director roles. Its operations in the city tripled in size.
It is part of an ambitious expansion plan that will increase fees from £1 million to £3 million within 18 months and widen the range of services offered to local people and companies in the area.
As well as boosting jobs, Talbots Law has also just completed a refurbishment of its 1850s listed home in Coventry Quadrant, which highlighted all period features while adding new flooring and more energy-efficient lighting.
Talbots Law chief executive Dave Hodgetts explained: “There is really huge potential for our footprint in the city and that is what we are aiming to achieve by 2024.”
“With the work in the office now complete, it’s time to think about how to build our team. We have the opportunity and space to grow our staff to 50 people, and that effort will begin immediately.”
He continued: “We aim to be one of Coventry’s leading law firms, providing all the legal services the local community needs and, importantly, delivering expertise in a personal way to show we care .”
The expansion focuses on creating a dedicated business services center at the Quadrant offices.
This means companies have access to comprehensive resources to help them manage day-to-day situations, resolve employment and HR issues, provide dispute resolution support and help them plan for the future when selling.
A new insolvency service will also be established, led by Coventry-based Martin Lord, an experienced restructuring, insolvency and disputes specialist.
Dave went on to add: “We like to take a different approach at Talbots and that’s due to our decision to become an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) in November 2021.
“This creates a unique ‘team’ atmosphere where we invest heavily in the development of our employees and provide each employee with a personal development plan they can follow. We have just received a 2-star rating in the Best Companies Awards to highlight Our commitment to our employees.”
