California Lottery is recruiting Chief Technology Officer/Assistant Deputy Director (IT Manager II) for the department.
The Chief Technology Officer “manages” the policy development, technical implementation, maintenance and support of the California Lottery’s IT systems and supporting infrastructure.
The California Lottery, which describes itself as “a multibillion-dollar enterprise headquartered in Sacramento,” is one of the few revenue-generating state organizations; it receives no taxpayer dollars from the state’s general fund. - Extensive experience in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and articulate a clear technical vision that is consistent with the overall goals of the organization. Ability to translate this vision into actionable strategies and initiatives.
According to the job description, the functions of this position include:
- Provides overall management, strategic vision, leadership, and direct supervision to subordinate managers of infrastructure and administration; operational support; network engineering and management; and cybersecurity and engineering units. (35%)
- Develops, implements, and monitors policies and procedures by leveraging knowledge of and obtaining information on current and changing technology practices and trends gathered from the private sector, local, other state departments, and state and federal governments. (20%)
- Work with program areas, vendors, and ITSD management to respond to customer requests, assist in setting project goals and priorities, and identify technologies that support department business needs. (20%)
- Assist ITSD in strategic planning for future policy and direction setting. Work with the ITSD Associate Director and the ITSD management team to determine the department’s strategy or direction based on business needs and the lottery’s vision and direction. (10%)
- Meets regularly with employees and monitors, evaluates, records and reports on employee activities and project status to ensure the highest level of performance in meeting employee performance and workload service level goals/agreements. Recommend, develop, propose and plan high-level sensitive projects or research. (10%)
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships as an effective liaison with all levels of Lottery management team and staff, other state and public agencies, and the established Lottery vendor community. Serves as backup to the ITSD Deputy Director when assigned. (5%)
The monthly salary range for this position is US$10,734 to US$13,048, and the application deadline is March 1.
