KSBW 8, the NBC affiliate of Hearst Television located in Salinas, California, is seeking a dynamic local sales manager to take our growing station to the next level. We are looking for a Sales Leader who can create a positive culture of success through leadership, clear direction, teaching, motivating and evaluating the sales efforts of our local teams. You will lead local teams to exceed budget across multiple platforms and coach a team of highly motivated sellers. You will coach a winning team and recruit and train new sellers. You will have experience in pricing and inventory management, as well as the ability to develop and maximize revenue opportunities within the local advertising community. Customer engagement is a top priority. You will report to the General Manager of Sales.
As a Local Sales Manager we expect you to work primarily at the station, but you will also be on site meeting customers and attending sales calls. You will have zoom/video conferencing capabilities as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of the Sales General Manager, set the overall tone for the local sales department based on mutually agreed upon sales goals and priorities
- Define account manager performance expectations and continuously measure efforts required to exceed those expectations
- Weekly one-on-one meetings and quarterly strategy sessions with each account manager
- Build relationships with our customers and key prospects through frequent visibility – this includes remaining active throughout the sales process, attending sales calls and entertaining customers
- Help forecast quarterly and annual revenue for the department
- Work with General Sales Manager and National Sales Manager to manage inventory and rates to maximize station revenue and exceed revenue goals
- Work with a Digital Sales Manager to manage our digital sales efforts to maximize revenue and exceed revenue goals across multiple digital platforms
- Exceed our department goals including total revenue, market share, new business, station projects and more.
- Continuously recruit potential team members.Establish a stable team of high-quality account managers
- Lead the training of potential new account managers through our SAA program
- It is recommended that our research experts create research pieces to assist with sales efforts.
- Communicate effectively with other managers, supervisors, and workstation vendors
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Require:
- 3+ years of broadcast sales management experience
- Generate revenue and grow your advertiser base
- Analyze problems thoroughly in order to make good business decisions and solve problems
- Communicate effectively and build strong internal and external relationships
- Has a history of implementing budgets across multiple platforms
- Have experience in new business development
- excellent negotiator
- Passionate about building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Be creative and develop targeted, customer-centric marketing solutions using multiple media products including TV, online, mobile and multicast
- Learn how to price and manage inventory effectively
- Develop strategies to exceed local budget and revenue goals
- Computer knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, preferably with experience with Wide Orbit and Matrix
- Relevant military experience will be considered

The estimated base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $130,000. The actual base salary offered depends on many factors such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions (including work location) and other factors permitted by law. Base salary ranges are subject to change and may be revised in the future.
