Over the next several months, students in Southern Utah University’s professional sales program will have the opportunity to compete in several prestigious sales competitions outside of the university. The first events of the semester will be the Intercollegiate Sales Competition (ICSC) and the National Collegiate Sports Sales Competition (NCSSC). Subsequent rounds of these competitions, as well as qualification for other competitions, will take place in Spring ’24.
“These competitions provide an avenue for our students to experience sales outside of the classroom, outside of SUU and with others from different parts of the country,” said Maree Beach, professional sales administrative assistant. “A competitive atmosphere encourages excellence, real-life stakes bring great rewards, and our students get a taste of success and achievement. They work extremely hard to represent SUU nationally, and we are proud to lead our students with others Colleges compete. We look forward to continued success this academic year.”
Intercollegiate Sales Competition (ICSC)
The Intercollegiate Sales Competition is the largest collegiate sales competition in the world and includes Role Play Selling, Sales Management Competition and Quick Sales Competition. The Florida State University Sales Academy will host a competition this November in Orlando, Florida.
The competition invites sales majors from more than 80 universities to represent their schools in the competition. This invitation-only event is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to improve their skills in all aspects of sales management and professional selling.
National College Sports Sales Championship
The National Collegiate Sports Sales Championship is a great opportunity for students to showcase their sports sales skills at a competitive level. Students from schools across the country come to attend NCSC. The game is played in a traditional role-playing format. Students will market their products to recruiters who act as buyers in sales scenarios. The judges then score the performance based on specific scoring criteria.
The event provides students with ample networking time and interview opportunities, giving them more opportunities to build relationships with potential employers.
The preliminary rounds will be held over almost two weeks in November, with the second round taking place in the spring. Date will be announced.
“We’re building something special here. We’re developing a program that will give students more opportunities to succeed than any other program at SUU,” said Luke Perkins, a professional sales ambassador and club member who will compete in the competition. Luke Perkins said. “The skills you will develop through this program are extremely valuable to businesses, which is why employers come to SUU to offer our top sales talent very lucrative job opportunities.”
In addition to competitions in the fall, the Professional Sales Club anticipates several other off-campus sales competition opportunities in the spring, including the National Collegiate Sales Competition, Western States Sales Competition, and Challenger Sales Academy. Dates and entry instructions will be announced once decided.
