New Kent Winery and Talleysville Brewing Company at Dombroski Vineyards (newkentwinery.com) is Virginia’s only farm winery and farm brewery offering premium wines and craft beers . We are looking for a Winery Operations Manager to lead the team and oversee all operational and business activities within the organization. This position will report directly to the Board of Directors and work to develop strategies and plans to achieve short- and long-term goals and ensure overall brand and mission alignment.
Responsibilities and Obligations:
– lead
+ Make recommendations to the Board of Directors on operational strategy, human capital management, company policies and procedures.
+Work with the Board of Directors to develop organizational goals, vision and strategy.
+ Work with the Board of Directors on sales management to develop adequate investment capital budgets to achieve near- and long-term growth goals.
+Implement and enforce decisions made by the Board of Directors.
+Translate strategies into actionable goals.
+ Develop and track key performance indicators to measure strategy success.
+ Maintain an in-depth understanding of the company’s market and industry.
+ Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture to ensure team members thrive and achieve organizational results.
+ Ensure effective recruitment, onboarding, professional development, performance management and retention.
+Lead and motivate subordinates to increase employee engagement and develop a high-performing management team.
+ Oversee human resources, including payroll approval, hiring, firing and benefits administration.
–operations
+ Stay informed on all rules and regulations related to farm wineries, breweries, hotels and retail operations.
+ Adhere to corporate, federal, state and local business requirements, enforce compliance and take action when necessary.
+ Oversee, direct, manage and analyze all internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement.
+Adhere to and enforce all existing policies and procedures.
+ Direct oversight of all operations and partnerships.
+ Maintain and build trusting relationships with key accounts, clients, partners and stakeholders.
+ Oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce expected results and are consistent with overall strategy and mission.
+ Analyze problem situations and incidents and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth.
+ Directly reports to the General Manager.
–Finance and Administration
+ Develop budgeting, sales forecasting, and distribution systems for wine and beer that have a simple tracking system but provide the details needed to respond quickly and correct course when needed.
+ Monitor and control expenses and implement business processes to support effective financial management.
+ Actively manage capital investments and expenditures to ensure the company achieves revenue and profit goals related to growth and profitability.
+ Prepare detailed current and future forecast reports by monitoring performance through tracking and developing corrective actions as needed.
+ Directly supervises the Bookkeeper and is responsible for developing budgets, reconciling accounts, reviewing reports and verifying general ledger entries.
+ Provide guidance in the maintenance, development and implementation of employee handbooks and operations manuals.
+ Recommend to the General Manager to proactively intervene and resolve actual or potential employee relations/morale issues.
+ Provide guidance to the General Manager on correcting disciplinary issues to ensure acceptable levels of performance and conduct.
+ Investigate and resolve any EEO complaints.
+Maintain compliance with federal and state employment regulations.
– Sales and Marketing
+ Oversee the management of various sales pipelines to ensure balanced sales growth that is manageable and predictable.
+ Oversee the creation, marketing and execution of campaigns to increase sales. Includes receptions, special members events and tastings, off-site events and facility rentals.
+ Cultivate and maintain quality relationships with clients including individuals, corporate event coordinators, destination management companies, winery vendors, associates and management.
+ Serve as a representative for New Kent Winery/Tallisville Brewing Company at social events, associations, concierge services and networking meetings.
+ Work with the Board of Directors, management team and marketing firm to develop and execute marketing plans and strategies to ensure the website and all ancillary marketing supports the image and brand of the winery and brewery.
Qualifications and Skills:
+Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or Finance, with MBA preferred.
15+ years of progressive operational management responsibility, preferably in the wine, restaurant, retail or alcohol industry.
+ Experience in financial management, including general ledger functions and month-end/year-end financial close processes.
+In-depth knowledge of the wine, hospitality, tourism and beer industries, particularly in Virginia.
+Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
+Have experience with QuickBooks.
+Excellent management skills.
+Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
+Problem solving and complex analysis skills.
+ Ability to work closely with teams on budget, process and program development.
+Must be able to lift over 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and sit for long periods of time.
+Must have no alcohol-related criminal record.
Salary and benefits:
